Method 1: This work pretty well - hold your breath as long as you can , then swallow 3 times before you breath out.
Method 2: Have someone put their fingers in your ears. Hold your nose and drink a glass of water
Method 3: Blow hairdryer on upper chest and upper back. Works instantly. Been doing it on my kid for years as he is needle phobic
Method 4: I know this is weird, but absolutely works for me immediately every time. In a glass of water place a metal spoon. Hold your breath and slowly sip for as long as you can.
When you absolutely must let out your breath, do so as slowly as you can. True story, been doing it for years and never fails.
Acupuncture treatment can help with chronic hiccup too! Numerous clinical trials have demonstrated that acupuncture can treat intractable hiccups, including acupressure, acupoint injection, electroacupuncture, and acupoint embedding. For example,
- Pressing hard on Acupuncture point CV14, breath as deeply as you can. It will hurt. But stops the diaphragm from spasms.
- A study published in 2003 claimed that applying pressure to the TE17 point, just behind the earlobe, was 92.6% effective in treating chronic hiccups when tested in 148 cases
